Scope

BUR to SBS roof replacement on a stramit substrate

Description

Our team was tasked by the engineering firm to replace a section of the BUR roof on a strip mall with a new SBS system. This project was a challenge due to the existing structural substrate being made of outdated straw boards that deteriorated due to leaks over time. We were required to selectively replace these boards, which requires special consideration. Knowing we were working above commercial food service units; we ensured the mess was kept to a minimum and to ensure the businesses could continue operation during the project. During the project, it was found that some existing mechanical units had insufficient structural support which caused the RTUs to sink into the roof system. We worked together with the engineer to create a solution to install new structural supports while the reroofing work was ongoing.
